Mary is currently the Sales Manager for the Silver Legacy Resort Casino in Reno. In 1983, Mary decided to change careers, so she enrolled and graduated from The International Airline Academy in Portland and was hired to her 1st airline job in Las Vegas with Sunworld Airlines. She moved back to the Bay Area with the airline and in 1986 became Sales Account Manager for Northwest Airlines. She enjoyed working in San Francisco but in 1992, looking to move out of California, she and her husband Kirk both went to work for a little upstart airline named RENO AIR. She opened SFO and the new San Jose hub before coming over to Reno in 1994.

After Reno Air was purchased by American Airlines, Mary spent a short time with Planet Hollywood before settling down in Hotel Sales. She worked 7 years with the Reno Hilton and now 5 years with the Silver Legacy Resort Casino.

Working downtown, Mary is active with the Downtown Improvement Association and is an educator and advocate for new venues and improvements all around the downtown Reno corridor and surrounding areas!

Mary volunteers with Hot August Nights and in the VIP tent at the National Air Races. With family ties to the lodge, she is a docent and guides tours in summer at the beautiful Thunderbird Lodge at Lake Tahoe. She also is a volunteer and can be seen in costume at many special events and holiday celebrations in Virginia City.

Married for 20 years to husband Kirk Montero, she has 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters.
